History –
Did you know tourists came to Woodstock before they knew of Lincoln? Lincoln was a lumber town for many years (visit the Historical Society in summer), while Woodstock was the gateway to the White Mountains and Franconia Notch. The many train tracks attest to how the wood was retrieved from the forest and then transported to mills and factories to the south. Just as the mill was winding down, Sherman Adams decided to build the Loon Mountain ski area at the confluence of the Pemigewasset River and Kancamagus Scenic Byway, and a new industry became the mainstay in Lincoln. Yet there is also manufacturing and a business park, as the area looks to diversify again. So come to play or come to stay – we’d love to have you join us!
